The City Livery Yacht Club was originally formed as the Yachting Section of the City Livery Club in 1956 by enthusiastic yachtsmen: to promote interest in yachting by means of discussions, lectures, cruising and racing; to develop close contact between those Members of the City Livery Club who were interested in the sea and ships: and to encourage the sport of sailing. The Club was recognised as a Club by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) in 1958.
The City Livery Yacht Club offers sailing, boating and socialising opportunities to its members, even those who are just interested in ‘messing about in boats’ or who just like to meet and chat about their boating experiences. In fact not all members cruise or sail, nor do all members have boats. So whether you are an absolute novice or an experienced racer, cruiser, sailor or motor yachtsman, why not join?
Our members enjoy a plethora of sailing, boating and socialising opportunities, including a full social calendar of rallies, distinguished and prestigious events as well as a Commodore's Special Event each year in September. Membership is exclusively for members (both Liverymen and Freemen) of Livery Companies, although bereaved spouses or partners of members can now join as Companions.
