The ATYC holds annual rallies which in the past have alternated between West India & Millwall Docks, The Queens Promenade in Kingston and Fawley Meadow in Henley. These rallies play an important part in the progression and maintenance of inter club relations and feature activities such as training, boat handling competitions & demonstrations as well as a dinner & dance on Saturday night. ATYC Rallies usually follow a three-year cycle with two consecutive events on the non-tidal waterway and a triennial tidal rally to West India & Millwall Docks. This site is a particular favourite for both our tidal and non-tidal based clubs as it is easily accessible for all.
The 2025 ATYC Rally visited West London’s leading Thames Marina in Shepperton.
Situated in a delightful backwater between the locks of Shepperton and Sunbury the Marina enjoys a peaceful air of rural tranquillity. Yet London is only some 30 minutes away by road and direct access to the river, great for our visiting member clubs!
Proud winners of the prestigious 5 Anchor Award Shepperton Marina boast a wide selection of delightful moorings ideal for boats ranging from small day cruisers up to larger motor boats and wide beams/Barges up to 22m. All of the moorings (except one pontoon for day boats) are equipped with electrical hook-ups and water supply.
Rally delegates enjoyed full access to all of the marina services including some fabulous shower blocks and laundry facilities for the entire duration of their stay. A full programme of events was created and featured a Hog Roast Dinner, Afternoon Tea, Boat Handling Demonstrations and Workshops to brush up on your techniques.
Once a year the association organises a dinner & dance, This popular event with a guest speaker is a chance for our member clubs to get together to socialise and party. Our 2025 event hosted 14 member clubs who sent contingencies ranging vastly in numbers and totalling a fabulous 100 with the traditional award of the Old Father Thames Trophy being awarded on the night to the Richmond Yacht Club.
Keep up to date with your association by coming along to the next
pen Meeting & Social Events, held throughout the year. These meetings are used to update the membership about the work that is carried out by the members of the ATYC committee. Dates and venues for the open meetings are published in the ATYC newsletter and are normally held in one of our member clubs. To find out when and where the next open meeting is held please sign up to our newsletter or see the diary dates below.
"Thanks from Penton Hook YC to Andrew Bernstein, Chris Turner and all the ATYC team for an excellent rally!
We thoroughly enjoyed the smooth organisation and superb entertainment from the Eel Pie 2. The hog roast was delicious and Pam Chart's afternoon tea was simply epic!
A wonderful, and useful, opportunity to meet up again with our fellow yacht clubs and we appreciated the warm welcome from Lisa and her team at the beautiful Shepperton Marina, who could not have been more helpful.
What a smashing weekend! Well done everyone."
"Andrew and Tina Downing together with myself and my husband from TWYC would like to say a big THANK YOU for a most wonderful weekend. We had a great time getting to know other Club members and their Flag Officers and we look forward to forging stronger relationships with them all going forward. Thank you Andrew Bernstein and to all of your fellow ATYC members for looking after us all and keeping us entertained throughout the weekend. Thank you also to Shepperton Marina and Lisa Harris for making us all feel very welcome at their Marina."
